Early Learning Scholarships

Early Learning Scholarships help provide high quality childcare and early education to help your child get ready for school. Scholarship amounts vary based on the age of the child, program type, and Parent Aware Rating of the early childhood program serving the child, up to the limit (cap) of $12,000 - $15,000, based on progam type and Parent Aware rating, per scholarship year. Application Information:

You can receive the application by contacting your Area Administrator. To find your area administrator click here. Completed applications should be sent or delivered to the Area Administrator.

The Minnesota Department of Education does not accept or distribute scholarship applications.

What you may need to apply:

The application must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian and sent with the following:

  • Proof of Income, W-2 form, a financial aid statement, a signed statement from the current employer on company letterhead, documentation of child support, documentation of social security income, the previous year’s income tax filing documents:


  • Proof of enrollment in one of the following programs: Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program (FRLP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Head Start, Foster Care and the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations.
